In her book "Listen to Me, Please! Time-In, Not Time-Out", co-written
with Dr. Ron Taffel, Ms. Parnass introduces a new technique that encourages
parents and children to talk more openly with each other. Excerpts from the
book appeared in Nick Jr. Family Magazine for 3 consecutive months.
Ms. Parnass has also created an innovative program called "Learning About Feeling",
which has been implemented in nursery schools and day camps. In addition Ms Parnass
holds parent/child workshops demonstrating her new techniques, and is a sought-after
speaker for both parents and professional audiences, with a particular expertise in
infant-to-school age children.
Ms. Parnass earned her Masters Degree at Columbia University. Prior to
launching her writing career and private practice, she worked at New York
Hospital-Cornell in the child psychiatry department as a Family Therapy Supervisor.
Currently, she is creating an animated television show, as well as the accompanying
books and songs, that will combine her passions for psychology, music and children's
emotional well-being. Her work reflect a lifelong passion for the psychological and
spiritual aspects of life, and aspire to complement the healing force of music.
Ava Parnass collaborators include some of New York’s most prominent hit-writers,
performers and award-winners, including Alex Forbes, Eve Nelson, David Wolfert, J.J.
Appleton and Jeff Franzel. Ava Parnass co-wrote the lyrics for the album "Languishing in Turbulence"
with artist Lorraine Ferro, winner of a Dove Award for her song, "Adoni."
