Ava Parnass
Ava Parnass, a.k.a. “The Kid Whisperer,” is an author, songwriter and child therapist who specializes in marrying entertainment and social-emotional literacy for kids. Ms Parnass helps kids figure out how they feel through playing, talking ,listening, reading, singing and dancing.
Her multi-media materials, books and songs encourage parents and kids to read and sing along, in the process learning how awareness of feelings “the power of feelings” improves emotional problems and behavioral issues. Parenting is a hard job and the books and songs really help kids and parents put a finger on what is bugging them and change it.
Ms. Parnass also has a sub-specialty in the connection between emotional issues and childhood obesity. Parents use her materials to discover and practice techniques of “Prevention, Not Intervention!
The key to success is early intervention. If parents devote even 5 minutes a day to their children’s emotional health using these techniques and Research-Based Parenting, the result will be positive changes in behavior and attitude.
Ms. Parnass imagines a world where young children grow up to become healthy, happy teens and adults — a world where fewer develop challenging problems. She combines her lifelong passion for the psychological and spiritual aspects of life with the healing force of music. Her mission is to change the world one family at a time by raising awareness of the psychological factors that contribute to numerous childhood issues including obesity. Knowledge is power, and without knowledge of how feelings contribute to behavior, behavior can’t change.
In her new children’s book, “My Feelings Are Hungry,” the superhero, Mushy the Magic Book, flies with kids in the E-mobile to Feeling Town to help solve problems. Did you even know that feelings could get hungry? My Feelings are Hungry is the first book to ever address some of the key emotional issues that make kids want to eat more and also misbehave . My Feelings are Hungry is likely to become one of the single-most important books available to fight against childhood obesity in understanding that underneath all behavior are un-resolved feelings!
Ms Parnass understands what kids need. One of their primary needs is love and the need to be listened to – really listened to. It seems like listening is something that should come naturally to all of us, yet with the frenetic pace of today’s world and multiple demands on our time, we may not listen to our children in ways that are meaningful to them.

Time-In, Not Time-Out,” co-written with Dr. Ron Taffel and featuring new techniques that use pictures and words to help parents and children learn without time-out. This book is a game changer! The book is part parenting field guide and part interactive story book. It’s a book both parents and children will want to return to again and again. Using this book with children helps connect with them on a deeper level and also watch misbehavior disappear! It’s pure relationship magic!
