Ava Parnass, a.k.a. “The Kid Whisperer,” is an author, songwriter and child therapist who specializes in marrying Entertainment, Emotional Intelligence and Time-In not Time-Out for kids. Ms Parnass helps kids figure out how they feel through playing, talking ,listening,reading, singing and dancing.
Her multi-media materials, books and songs encourage parents and kids to read and sing along, in the process learning how awareness of feelings “Emotional Intelligence” improves problems and behavioral issues. Parenting is a hard job and the books and songs really help kids and parents put a finger on what is bugging them and change it.
Ms. Parnass also has a sub-specialty in the connection between “Emotional Intelligence” i.e. Time-In parenting and childhood obesity. Parents use her materials to discover and practice techniques of “Prevention, Not Intervention!
Al Margolis, well known for his inventive visuals and insightful, humorous illustrations, is a Cleveland Art School graduate. His career includes a long stint as an advertising agency art director, and more recently as owner of Margolis Creative, a graphic design and illustration group.
Kate Kaminski holds a B.A. in English and an M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. On the West coast since the ‘80’s, she has discovered the joys of illustration, book production, and the publishing industry.
Dr. Ron Taffel has worked with children and families for over two decades. He is one of the country’s most sought-after speakers for both parent and professional audiences. Dr. Taffel is the award-winning author of over 100 articles and has been a contributing editor in McCall’s and Parents magazines for 14 years. His child rearing guides, translated into numerous languages, include the critically acclaimed Parenting By Heart, Nurturing Good Children Now and When Parents Disagree. His latest popular book on adolescence, The Second Family was recently released in paperback. Dr. Taffel is the founder of Family and Couples Treatment Services at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City where he lives with his wife and two children.
